Statement of Faith
Lumby Christian Church (LCC) functions as a local expression of the Body of Christ
In Essentials, Unity. In Non-Essentials, Grace.
While God's Word is our ultimate standard of truth we welcome people at every stage of their spiritual journey and seek to grow together in Christ. Holding firmly to the essential teachings of the Christian faith, we recognize that faithful believers may differ on non-essential theological and political matters. Because of this, not everyone at LCC shares the same viewpoint on every issue. We believe our unity is in Jesus Christ, and can strengthen our witness, deepen our understanding, and enrich our life together as a church family.
What We Believe. There is one true God—Creator and Redeemer—who has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: three Persons, co-equal and co-eternal, yet one God. (Deut. 6:4; Isa. 43:10; Isa. 44:6; 1 Kings 8:60; 1 Tim. 1:17)
The Bible is the Word of God, divinely inspired and the final authority for faith and life. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21; Matt. 5:18)
Humanity was created in the image of God to know, worship, and enjoy Him. Through humanity's rebellion, sin entered the world, bringing corruption, death, and judgment. (Gen. 1:27; James 3:9; Col. 3:10)
Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, was buried, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to heaven, and now intercedes for His people. (John 1:1-2, 14; Luke 1:35; 1 Pet. 2:24; 1 Pet. 1:3-5; Acts 1:9-11; Heb. 7:25)
Salvation is by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Saving faith is expressed through repentance and obedience to Christ. (Eph. 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-7; Acts 2:38)
The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates believers, and empowers them for holy living and service. (John 16:8-11; Gal. 5:22-23; Rom. 8:9)
The Church is the body of Christ, consisting of all who trust in Him as Lord and Savior. We practice believer's baptism by immersion and weekly communion in obedience to Christ. (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 2:38-42; 1 Cor. 11:23-26)
Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly. There will be a resurrection of the dead and a final judgment. The eternal destiny of each person is either everlasting life in the presence of God or eternal separation from Him. (Acts 17:31; Matt. 25:31-46; 2 Tim. 4:1,8)
